Steven PerelmanOctober 6, 2004 - After three days of amazing shows at the Kern County Fair, I am pleased to say that we have successfully completed the seventh year of the Got Milk Gravity Tour. This year was definitely the best!!! We are going to take a break and will be back in April for the high school tour so look for us at your school. September 20, 2004 - It's almost that time of year again, and we are close to the end of the 2004 Gravity Tour. Our second to last stop found us at the LA County Fair at the Fairplex in Pomona California. The athletes were in for a special treat at this stop. We had just held the second annual LG Action Sports Championships competition at the fair, so ASA Events left the entire contest ramp up for the GOT MILK shows. The riders for this stop were Gabe Weed, Jimmy Walker, Richie Lopez, Marco Jimmy ColemanDe Santi, Shane Yost, Sven Boekhoerst, and Cesar Andrade. They were all very excited to see a 13 foot tall, 60 foot wide ramp at their disposal for the 4 days of the shows. Most of the riders in the show had competed the weekend before, so they were already used to the ramp and were firing off big tricks for the crowds. Another nice perk of this tour stop was the fact that we did night shows. Pomona is rather hot this time of year, but cools off nicely when the sun goes down, plus there's more of a crowd at night at the fair. Doing shows under the lights at night, always seems to fire the guys up. Jimmy Walker was doing flairs in both directions and huge 540's. Richie Lopez was launching 540 variations on his skateboard and huge airs. Shane Yost treated the crowd to 900's and 1080's and on a few nights, the double flat spin. Gabe Weed is always a crowd favorite with his flatland skills, and Sven and Marco were on their A game as well. On Saturday night we gave out a few skateboards to rile the crowd up and they rewarded us by screaming non stop for our last show. Although everyone hates to see the tour wrap up this time of year, everyone still had a great time. We'll see you Oct 1st through the 3rd for the last stop in Bakersfield at my favorite event, the Kern County Fair.

August 30, 2004 - I have been at the California State Fair for the last ten days and have eight more to go. This year the Gravity Tour is located right in the middle of the Toyota Extreme Zone along with the FMX shows. The crowds have been huge and the shows have been amazing. Last week was the Mobile Skatepark Series contest so we had all of the best pros in town to ride the Gravity Tour shows. We used the contest ramp (all sixty feet of it) so the riders were really stoked, especially Gabe, who loves the extra room to pull his best flatland tricks. Bye for now!

July 18, 2004 - The next stop on the tour is the Gilroy Garlic Festival July 23rd thru July 25th, 2004. Once again the expected attendance is over 140,000 people. WOW! The ramp will be set up in the same location as last year so we will not be hard to find. The festival is all about garlic and the food is some of the best on the tour. There is Garlic Bread to Garlic Ice Cream and everything in between. Come on by and say hello or better yet get an autograph from one of the pro riders. Bye for now!

June 28, 2004 -We just finished our shows at the Alameda County Fair and what a great week it has been. We kicked off the fair with a huge parade down the main street in Pleasanton (the team rode on the Berkeley Farms Milk Truck. Our ramp was set up in the Extreme Zone with many other sports related activities. We will definitely be back next year! Bye for now!

May 9, 2004 - After a fun weekend in Reno, it was time to get back to work. This week found us in the east bay area, centered close to the city of Concord. We still have Walker, Lopez, Davies, and Weed with us but we traded out Marc Englehart for Shane Yost this week. We haven't seen Shane since last summer , so it was nice to have the old Dollywood crew back together again. The schools this week were Dublin, Amador Valley, Clayton Valley, College Park, and Northgate High Schools. It was pretty hot the first two days but it cooled off by Wednesday and it was excellent weather for shows. This week started off with a bang at Dublin High. The crowds were large and there were several local newspapers on site. We actually got a full page right up in the paper the following morning. This week turned out to be a tour of pro BMX riders former high schools. Clayton Valley high is the Alma Mater of pro riders Rob Darden and Ryan O'Connell. On Thursday we were at College Park High, the former high school of the infamous Allen Cooke. Then on Friday we finished out the week at Northgate, Gabes old high school. Norcal shows are always a blast with Gabe. Since he grew up in the area, he knows all the hotspots to eat, ride, and get good cheap CD's. We were even paid a visit by an old friend, Sean Parker, who hung out all week and took pictures. Special thanks to Gabe for showing us around, Sean for the pictures, and to Allen Cookes mom for all the cookies and water she gave us. That officially wraps it up from my end of the Got Milk Gravity Tour for awhile. I'm off to southeast Tennessee to do shows at Dollywood for the summer. I'll be back with more tour stories and info when I return for the Cal Expo shows in Sacramento. See ya then.

April 26, 2004 - Is it just me or does this year's Got Milk Gravity Tour seems to be flying by? I feel like we just started and its already on its 5th stop. This part of the tour brings us back to one of my favorite events, the Stockton Asparagus Festival. I am a fan of this event because of the large rowdy crowds, and the fact that you can get any type of food you want made with asparagus. Last years Asparagus Festival was held in a cool little park on the north side of town. Stockton has been undergoing some changes lately and they just redid the downtown waterfront area. It looked great and was an excellent place to move this festival to. The ramp was setup smack dab in the middle of Fremont Street. From the deck of the ramp you could see clear to the other side of the festival and it really gave you a feel for how many people were there. Friday's crew consisted of Neal Hendrix, Danny Mayer, Koji Kraft, John Parker, Eito Yasutoko, and Jim Burgess. It was a pretty hot day without a cloud in sight. Despite the heat, the guys got right at it and proceeded to keep the same momentum that the Long Beach shows had. Saturday and Sunday we swapped out Jim Burgess, Danny Mayer and Neal Hendrix for Mike Crum, Marco De Santi, and Richie Lopez. With each day the temperature seemed to rise and so did the level of riding. Richie and Eito just seem to have a way of lighting everyone else on that ramp up when they skate. The guys were doing some of their hardest tricks in their intro runs. I have to say that looking down on that crowd and seeing all those people cheering like that was quite a rush. We had our friends from Crystal Dairy on site all weekend passing out ice cold chocolate milk to keep the fans thirst at bay. The highlight of the weekend had to be Sunday's last show. All of the shows were great, but the 4PM show on Sunday was simply amazing. Jimmy Walker had the weekend off , but decided to ride with the boys anyway. There were things going on in that last show that I cant really begin to describe to you. It was by far one of the best shows I have ever been a part of. There is just something about this group of guys, the roar of the crowd and the music that gets everyone going. My voice was spent when it was all said and done. All I can say is, Stockton California, you guys rule!!!! Special thanks to Frank the farmer for hooking me and the guys up with fresh asparagus and strawberries from his farm. I am counting the days until next year's Stockton Asparagus Festival.

April 22, 2004 - After an excellent weekend in Long Beach, the guys were a little tired. This weeks crew consisted of Jimmy Walker, Richie Lopez, Koji Kraft, Eito Yasutoko and Marco Desanti. Eito and Marco flew to Sacramento but Koji, Jimmy, Richie, and myself decided to drive. We figured a little late night road trip was in order. We got into Sacramento pretty late and had an early show, you would think after a weekend of hard riding and skating combined with an all night drive would wear these guys out. As soon as we arrived at Casa Roble High school, the guys were fired up and ready to get right back at it. The weather was a little cloudy and some rain was in the area but we still managed to get the show in. The weather kinda lingered for another day or so. Unfortunately for Tuesdays schools, Granite Bay, the rain decided to hang around. Things cleared up a bit on Wednesday for Oakmont High, and it was back to business as usual. The skies cleared up on Thursday but the wind hung around for our show at Rio Americano High. Despite the windy conditions, the riders threw down everything they had and put on an excellent show. After the show, one of the students came over to the ramp with flowers in hand and asked a girl out to prom on our PA system. I can honestly say that was a first for me in all my years of announcing school shows, and by the way, she said yes. Friday was another double booked day, we had to send some guys down to Stockton for the Asparagus Festival, so we had some personnel changes. Fridays show at El Camino High consisted of Marco De Santi, Mike Crum, Jason Davies, Jimmy Walker, Richie Lopez, and Billy Gawrych on the mic. Despite some lousy weather early on, it was a great week overall and from what we understand, the following week will be in the nineties.

April 19, 2004 - Hello everyone, time for another installment of Jimmy's tour stories from the road. Similar to my "Storytime With Jimmy" segments from the Mobile Skatepark Series events but this time you don't have to look at my mug or listen to me, you just have to read. Stop number 3 on the 2004 Got Milk Gravity Tour put us smack dab in the middle of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. This is a particularly fun event for some of the guys because we have been doing shows their for years. Its usually a long weekend with early shows, but its always a good time and seems to bring some old friends out of the woodwork. The shows started on Friday which conflicted with the last day of our LA high school shows so we had to bring in a few extras. Fridays crew consisted of Jimmy Walker, Richie Lopez, John Parker, Neal Hendrix, Mike Crum, and Eito Yasutoko. This was Neal's first show with us on the Gravity Tour and he wasted no time in getting down to business. You would think that since we hadn't seen each other in a few months and the fact that it was early would cause the boys to start of mellow and work their way up. That theory got thrown right out the window as soon as the show started. Guys were doing 540's in their intro runs and just ruling that ramp as if it were in their own backyard. Fridays shows were definitely off the scale, and the Long Beach weekend was off to a great start. The Saturday and Sunday shows had some personnel changes. John Parker, and Neal Hendrix were replaced by Gabe Weed and Koji Kraft. Although the rest of the riders had a head start on the weekend, Gabe and Koji wasted no time fitting into the mix. Saturday was a rainy day outside but it just drove the race fans inside to check out the action on the ramp. Saturdays shows seemed to fly by. Sunday was a rough one, we had an 8:30 and a 10:20 show, and then our last show wasn't until 3:20. The guys used the time off to check out the races a little and catch a quick nap under the ramp. As tired as everyone was, they still fired off an amazing show to wrap up the entire weekend. Don't take my word for it, the pictures speak for themselves. Next stop, Sacramento.
